Confession time: I am obsessed with doors. A friend once asked why, ‘they’re just doors!’ said cried, after stopping for the one millionth time to take a photo. And in a way, she’s right. Doors are just that, doors. They serve a function, they allow- or prevent- people and things to get into a building or enclosed space. But at the same time, how people fashion their doors; shape them, decorate them, colour them; is completely different. It’s informed by their cultural traditions, wealth and status, preferences, or a desire to be different.
To me, doors are like the souls of buildings. They have character and personality, and each one tells a different story.
My brother (Steven) would probably have an issue with me calling this post ‘part 1’ (much like he hates ‘1st Annual’. But I promise there will be more door photos, during this trip or the next. Hey, at least I accumulate a few and post them together, instead of posting each individual door! These are from both the UK and Spain (can you guess which is which?).
