The Alhambra: Generalife

013 Generalife

Generalife is the summer palace at The Alhambra. All pieces were installed to help keep the building cool, including painting it white (to reflect the sun away), numerous water founds, and tall trees to offer ample shade. It is much cooler, and offers great views of the rest of the Alhambra. I’m sure if we had done this building first, we would have been amazed with the architecture, but after the Nasrid Palaces, it was like, “Oh, cool. Moving on.” I’m so spoiled.

Even so, after wandering The Alhambra for more than four hours, it was nice to sit in the shade, relax and imagine the previous rulers doing something very similar.
